Protecting Your Future in a Volatile Economy
Speaker: Erin Botsford
Once upon a time, over a 40 year career, the average employee hoped to accumulate $1 million in assets and a house that was paid for by the time they were 65. Now many employees wonder if they will ever be able to accumulate what they need to retire. Volatility in the financial markets have eroded their confidence. Employees are looking for advice - and they are calling their HR departments. They are worried and distracted at work, ultimately affecting their job performance, most fear losing their jobs. As HR professionals, it is important you are well informed about the current financial market, not only so you can help your employees, but so you can protect yourself as well.

Engaging Your Business Partners Through Workforce Planning
Speaker: Andrew Jacobus
For many organizations, human capital is the most powerful competitive advantage available, yet, according to a recent Infohrm global survey, North American firms lag in their approach to long-term management of their workforce. Should this trend continue, firms will face a decline in both internal and external supply, greater competition for available labor, and higher costs. Given the potential for negative impact on the business, HR - the traditional steward of talent management - needs to engage its business partners (finance, operations, line managers etc.) in holistic, strategic reviews of future human capital requirements and availability. Through advanced workforce planning, and in particular, scenario planning and "what if" financial modeling, HR can open a new dialog with its partners, build credibility as a business consultant, and greatly influence future corporate strategy.

Self-Medicate with Humor
Speaker: Sally Baskey
Although audiences will smile and laugh during Sally's entertaining programs, they will also be inspired to find humor in the everyday challenges of life once they leave the event! Attendees will want to implement the many interpersonal skils that Sally presents, and management will discover how, while most productive employees take their jobs seriously, they take themselves lightly. Sally motivates audiences to examine their own communication styles while remaining focused and energized in order to achieve their personal and professional goals.
