Proactive Staffing Strategies for 2010 - Leading from the Front

In this half day event, you will be sure to learn the best techniques for proactively structuring your recruitment approach in 2010 and beyond.

Luncheon Event: "Social Media Sourcing, Recruiting Tools and Technology" - Sean Self and Brian Media of Self Opportunity

The use of social media for recruiting and interactive recruiting through search engines to increase candidate traffic to your career site is the latest in technology and resources to hit the recruiting industry. In this session attendees will learn:

  • The best social media recruiting strategy for their organizations
  • How to reduce the organization's dependence on job boards
  • How to evaluate and implement changes to their career site to improve search results

Afternoon Events

Session 1: "Flexible Workforce Trends: Managing a Contingent Workforce" - Steven Scott of Cornerstone Business Solutions

Steven Scott will share current trends in the contingent workforce industry as well as describe what a baseline contingent workforce program should look like. After this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify, recognize adn understand key aspects of a contingent workforce program
  • Better source and select 3rd party contingent workforce suppliers
  • Understand key metrics associated with measuring the contingent workforce

Session 2: "Leading from the Front - Principled Leadership in Unprincipled Times" - Arvin Combs of Chamberlain Professional Search, Inc.

Attendees will be treated to an inspiring, unique and entertaining perspective on the illusive quality known as "leadership." Arvin Combs will lead an exploration of the leadership principles used by great historical "heroes" and how to apply those principles in our professional and personal lives today.

About the Speakers:

Sean Self is the President of Self Opportunity and a graduate of the University of North Texas. After several years in restaurant management, Sean formed his company to help the restaurant industry, and all other industries, with revolutionary recruiting solutions.

Brian Medina is the Director of National Sales for Self Opportunity and assists Sean in showing hiring managers the latest techniques in interactive recruiting and social media recruiting.

Steven Scott has a deep and broad background in procurement, human resources and contingent workforce. Steven has spent half of his career on the supplier side of the industry creating, delivering and managing contingent workforce solutions for his Fortune 100 clients. The other half of his career has been on the client/buyer side of the industry implementing and managing workforce solutions internally.

Arvin Combs began his career as a CPA with KPMG and then altered his career path to move into executive recruiting, a change that eventually lead to Talent Management where he served as National Director for Recruiting Development/Training for Centex Homes. He is a frequent speaker on the topics of personal development and has a particular passion for "principled leadership."
