Volunteer Opportunities

Qualifications: Must be a current member of DallasHR in good standing and have held membership for at least one year.

Community Relations partners with local non-profit organizations to raise awareness and serve the needs of our community. A variety of community-centric volunteer opportunities are available that provide our members numerous ways to participate in donating needed supplies and/or time. 

Talent Management provides specific programming and resources for recruiting, retention and all aspects of talent management.

Employment Law & HR Compliance keeps members informed about HR compliance and risk management information, requirements and best practices based on federal, state and local laws as well as potential and pending laws. They work with the Education Committee and the staff to plan legal updates and programming specific to legislation.

Member Engagement reaches out and welcomes new members and helps them become acquainted with the benefits of DallasHR, follows up with members who have not yet renewed, manages the DallasHR Ambassador program providing help and guidance to members during educational and networking events and researches ways to improve the benefit value for all members.

Round Tables provide an avenue for connection, learning and collaboration in several specialized areas of HR practice and interest.  Volunteers are encouraged to serve as leaders to coordinate these groups of members in round table discussions and best practice sharing. Round Table groups include: Compensation & Benefits, Employee Engagement, Global HR, HR Department of One, Organizational Development, Solution & Service Partners.

Education plans monthly educational programs, workshops, seminars and webinars for all educational areas of DallasHR.

Student Engagement oversees and promotes all student activities for DallasHR. The student program includes a mentor program, scholarship review and awarding, monthly luncheon student guest program and support to the on-campus college SHRM chapters.

Career Resources coordinates and facilitates meetings and networking to support members of the HR community who are in transition or otherwise seeking to improve their overall career skills.

Workforce Readiness finds and plans programs that support and prepare new and returning workplace entrants so they are prepared to enter the workforce with confidence.

Resource Center selects the books and promotional items available for sale at The HRSouthwest conference. This committee is also responsible for ordering, inventory and operation of the Resource Center during the conference.  Sets up inventory and operates the Resource Center during The Conference; and organizes the "close" of the Bookstore at the end of The Conference.

College Relations markets The HRSouthwest Conference to students, solicits student sponsorships, coordinates the scholarship program and conducts student orientation at The Conference.

Education selects the educational session speakers, develops the conference educational programs, handles all communication between The Conference and the speakers before, during and after the event, and coordinates audio-visual requirements and pre-conference workshops.

Onsite is responsible for onsite registration, security, coordination of on-site sign development and placement, phones, internet, and coordination of the business service center.

Special Events coordinates all, food and beverage selection, entertainment, decor, conference prize giveaways, including the Silent Auction (supporting our student sponsorship winners).

Social Media works with staff to build the Social Media program and support corporate communications.

Special Services manages the Welcome Center and volunteers to include soliciting volunteers and coordinating schedules. This committee also works with staff to develop, document and test new conference deliverables.
